Your First Visit

Dental

The American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend that a child see a pediatric dentist within six months of the eruption of the first tooth, or by their first birthday. This is considered to be a well-baby dental visit. This should be the start of a positive, constructive relationship between the dentist, patient, and parent, that will last through adolescence. The first visit, or infant oral exam, is a brief examination by the dentist, followed by an educational discussion with the parent. Early exams allow our specialists to monitor growth and development, provide nutrition information that may help parents and their children prevent cavities, as well as catching any potential problems while they are still small and easy to treat.
